IXPE Double-Sided Foam Tape (Automotive & Electronic Grade)

Charmetack IXPE Double-Sided Foam Tape represents the highest standard in foam bonding technology. Utilizing electron-beam irradiation cross-linking, this tape features a 100% closed-cell structure that delivers superior waterproofing and vibration damping compared to standard EVA or PE foams. It is the preferred choice for automotive exterior trim and electronic device sealing.

  • Structural Grade Adhesion — Engineered to achieve "Substrate Failure" (foam tears before adhesive releases), ensuring permanent bonding on metals, glass, and LSE plastics (PP/ABS).
  • Hermetic Sealing Capability — The ultra-fine micro-cellular foam compresses to form a watertight and dustproof seal, ideal for IP-rated electronic enclosures.
  • Extreme Weather Resistance — Withstands long-term exposure to UV, moisture, and temperature cycling (-40°C to 100°C) without becoming brittle.

product description

The "Untearable Bond" for Weatherproofing and Vibration Damping.

Charmetack’s IXPE Foam Tape utilizes electron-beam Irradiation Cross-linked Polyethylene foam, creating a 100% closed-cell structure that is far superior to standard chemically cross-linked foams. It offers a microscopically smooth surface for airtight and watertight sealing.

Coated with a high-performance modified acrylic adhesive, this tape is engineered for "Structural Bonding"—meaning the adhesion bond is stronger than the foam itself, ensuring parts never fall off.

Why Switch to IXPE Foam Tape?

  • Structural Adhesion (Substrate Failure): In peel tests, the foam tears before the adhesive releases. This guarantees maximum security for mounting heavy trims and emblems.
  • 100% Waterproof (Closed-Cell): The ultra-fine irradiation cross-linked cells prevent water, dust, and moisture ingress, making it ideal for outdoor weather stripping.
  • Vibration & Noise Damping: The viscoelastic foam absorbs road noise and engine vibration, acting as an excellent anti-rattle solution for automotive interiors.
  • Conformability: With high elongation, it fills gaps on uneven or textured surfaces (like frosted glass or injection-molded plastics) to create a full contact bond.

Technical Specifications

Standard color: Black / White. Custom thickness available.

Thickness Foam Type Peel Adhesion (on Steel) Master Roll Width
800µm (0.8mm) IXPE ≥8N / 25mm (Foam Tear/Damage) 1020mm - 1240mm
1000µm (1.0mm) IXPE ≥8N / 25mm (Foam Tear/Damage) 1020mm - 1240mm
1200µm (1.2mm) IXPE ≥8N / 25mm (Foam Tear/Damage) 1020mm - 1240mm
1500µm (1.5mm) IXPE ≥8N / 25mm (Foam Tear/Damage) 1020mm - 1240mm

*Note: "Foam Tear" indicates the adhesive bond strength exceeds the internal strength of the foam, representing the highest level of bonding security.

Typical Applications

  • Automotive Exterior: Mounting emblems, side molding trims, and rain visors (Resists UV & Car Wash).
  • Electronic Devices: Dust sealing gaskets for speakers, screens, and battery cushioning.
  • Construction: Mounting mirrors, bathroom accessories, and gap filling for window glazing.
  • Appliance Assembly: Reducing vibration noise in washing machines and air conditioners.

FAQ: IXPE Foam Tape

Q: What is the difference between IXPE and EVA foam tape?

IXPE is cross-linked by irradiation, resulting in a much finer cell structure and smoother surface than EVA. This gives IXPE better waterproofing, higher temperature resistance, and stronger bonding to the adhesive layer.

Q: Is this tape waterproof?

Yes. The 100% closed-cell structure prevents any water absorption. It acts as a permanent water seal when compressed by 30%.
